Examples of information and assistance provided to researchers and their spouses regarding recognition of foreign diplomas, degrees and other qualifications.

Information on recognition of diplomas is important in ensuring acceptance of qualifications from European countries in other areas of the world as well as fair recognition of qualifications from other regions in Europe. Information on recognition is also of crucial importance in a number of other contexts, including further study within the European Region or outside it and for employment in the labour market.

No related experiences are specifically provided in this Web Handbook, but a general recommendation could be to get in touch with your National Academic Recognition Information Centre (ENIC/NARIC).

The gateway to recognition of academic and professional qualifications, enic-naric.net, and the related country page should be mentioned on all national EURAXESS portals and known by EURAXESS staff. Several EURAXESS partners are also members of these networks, for instance, the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (LT) or the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities.

The ENIC Network (European Network of National Information Centres on academic recognition and mobility) provides information on the recognition of foreign diplomas, degrees and other qualifications.

The NARIC Network (National Academic Recognition Information Centres Network) aims at improving academic recognition of diplomas and periods of study in the Member States of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Turkey.

All member countries have designated national centres, the purpose of which is to provide authoritative advice and information concerning the academic recognition of diplomas and periods of study undertaken in other states.
